Belgium 22 years old Remco Evenepoel secured its positions as the top name in road cycling, from which great things can be expected in the future. Evenepoel, who won the Tour of Spain earlier in September, won the men’s road race world championship in Australia on Sunday with an irresistible tactic.
Evenepoel broke away from the others about 35 kilometers before the finish line together with Kazakhstan Alexey Lutsenko with. Evenepoel finally shook off Lutsenko and finished two minutes and 21 seconds ahead of the main group.
“Unbelievable. I could have competed here at the age of under 23”, Evenepoel was amazed.
