Slovakian Peter Sagan thinks young drivers lack respect.
Road cycling triple world champion Peter Sagan was one of the superstars and most colorful figures of the species in the last decade.
Over the past couple of years, the results of the Slovak Sagan have been declining, and now the 32-year-old veteran thinks the atmosphere at the top of the sport has changed.
Sagan says in an interview with Het Nieuwsblad that, compared to the early stages of his career, young drivers lack respect for unwritten rules, among other things. It has led to “complete anarchy,” according to Sagan.
Road cycling the top in the last few years has been a number of athletes under the age of 25 who have also made significant gains.
Sagan believes young drivers need to learn to work better with the media.
“If you talk too much in the media, there will only be rumors and controversy. It doesn’t help anyone, ”Sagan said, quoting an interview with Het Nieuwsblad Cycling Weeklyn by.
Sagan recounted how his tough competitor from years ago Fabian Cancellara reportedly made provocative comments about him to the media.
“It made me laugh because it meant he was starting to get really nervous about me. When the reporters came to ask me about his speeches, I always said that Fabian is my idol and that I can’t say anything bad about him. ”
According to Sagan, experienced drivers talked a lot in the media, but now young people are doing it.
“The younger generation lacks respect. You see and feel it. Before, there were unwritten rules in competitions. Now they have been forgotten. There is complete anarchy. ”

According to Sagan, it is no longer possible to stop by the road to relieve pressure in the bladder without losing a chance in a race. Before, it was reportedly allowed to stop at a suitable place in one inch.
“I noticed this when I drove in the stage race as the team captain and stopped to pee. Others continued to keep pace. Before, that was a bit of a break. ”
According to Sagan, there are no more urinary breaks.
“Now everyone is urinating on wheels. And no more bothering to drive to the side of the road. I don’t say names, but there’s urination in the middle of the crowd. Everyone is urinating on everyone. Disgusting. If you point something out about it, you’ll be considered rude because you can’t interfere in what someone else is doing, ”said Sagan, who has started this race season quite modestly in his new Team TotalEnergies stable.
