Women, life, freedom: this is the protest slogan that Iranian women have been chanting for almost a month. The symbol of this movement is the young Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini. Her death three days after her arrest by the morality police sparked an unprecedented and heavily repressed popular uprising.
But despite the government’s attempts to quell the protests, the number of participants is increasing and alongside them, diaspora artists put their skills to use to amplify the voice of the people.
Our colleagues from the French chain spoke with the writer Maryam Madjidi about the challenge of continuing to mobilize the international public.
In this program we also talk about Axelle Red’s first trip to Colombia. Within the framework of the 40 years of the NGO Humanity and Inclusion, the Belgian singer spent time in Tolima and Guajira, to learn about, among other things, the assistance projects for victims of violence and education in mine irrigation.
And we traveled to the Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival, where the documentary “Elis & Tom – Só Tinha de Ser Com Você” premiered. A film that goes behind the scenes of the making of a monument of Brazilian music: the album “Elis & Tom”, by Elis Regina and Tom Jobim. Our correspondents Valeria Saccone and Julia Courtois interviewed the director of the documentary Roberto de Oliveira.
