The doctoral thesis of the official chronicler, Fernando José Barquero, has been key to this initiative
The General Directorate of Cultural Heritage is immersed in the initiation of the file of Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC) of the building known as Posada del Marqués de Villafranca de Librilla, located next to the National Highway 340, as it passes through the town.
The doctoral thesis of the official Librilla chronicler and professor of Geography and History, Fernando José Barquero Caballero, where he recreated the creation of a Cultural Center in the old inn, has been key to the beginning of this file. “This building is privately owned and is in a state of abandonment, but the talks between the owners and the City Council to make it a municipal building are underway,” said Barquero. The dependencies of the old inn occupy 3,000 square meters of surface and have, according to Barquero, great architectural and historical values. The place became the property, in the time of King Carlos III, of José Álvarez de Toledo, the Duke of Alba.
