The incidence of cases Covid diagnosed and reported in Italy in the period 9-15 May “is equal to 2 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, an increase compared to the previous week (1 case per 100,000 inhabitants); The incidence increased slightly in some Regions compared to the previous week. The highest incidence was reported in the Lombardy region ( 3.2 cases per 100,000 inhabitants) and the lowest in the Marche, where no new cases were reported in the week of observation”. This is highlighted by the weekly Covid-19 monitoring report from the Ministry of Health – Higher Institute of Health. In summary – according to experts – in Italy we are witnessing “a slight increase in the incidence of new cases identified and reported with Saes-CoV-2 infection in Italy but the impact on hospitals is stable and limited”.
“The transmissibility index (Rt) calculated with data updated to May 15th and based on cases with hospitalization, as of May 7th is below the epidemic threshold, equal to 0.93, stable compared to the previous week (0.94) – the report continues – As of May 15, the occupancy of beds in the medical area was 0.9%, stable compared to the previous week; the occupancy of beds in intensive care increased slightly, equal to 0.3%, compared to the previous week (0.2%)”.
