Mexico.- The Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) affirmed that the “Covid-19 3.0 permit” allowed the health unit to face the fourth wave of the pandemic of SARS-CoV-2 in a better way.
The foregoing, since the workers who were infected or suspected of infection did not have to go in person to the clinics or hospitals of the Mexican Institute of Social Security to be granted disability for a period of 7 days, since all the procedure was through the digital platform.
At the end of the digital tool “Permiso Covid-19 3.0”, in an interview for Millennium Televisionn, the head of the Unit of Economic Benefits and Health at Work of the IMSS, José David Santa Cruz, specified that this new modality of permission for workers insured before the agency caused hospital centers not to overflow.

For his part, the official announced that, from January 10 to February 21, the IMSS processed more than 373 thousand disabilities by Covid-19 through the digital platform, which translated into the same number of workers who did not need to travel and expose other people to contagion.
“Since January 10, when we relaunched this tool, we have processed more than 373,000 disabilities, which meant that this number of workers avoided traveling in the public service, stood in line and shared the space with other people, and thus we broke chains of contagion,” he pointed.
The “Covid-19 3.0 Permit”, implemented at the beginning of 2022 due to the increase in infections due to the presence of the variant omicron in Mexico, it ended this Tuesday, February 22, due to the exponential decrease in infections. That is why, from this date, members who present symptoms of coronavirus will have to go directly to the Family Medicine Units (FMU) to be evaluated in person and, where appropriate, the issuance of their temporary incapacity for work.

The digital tool made it easier for infected or suspected contagion workers to shelter in their homes with the security of having legal protection from their employers and without the need to leave their homes, as was previously done.
