The United States and Great Britain struck Houthi positions in Yemen on the night of January 12
The United States and Great Britain began a military operation in Yemen on the night of Friday, January 12. The Houthis vowed to respond to the attack and set the entire region on fire. Russia, Turkey and a number of other states responded to the massive strikes and shelling carried out on targets on Yemeni territory.
Thus, Kremlin official representative Dmitry Peskov said that Russia condemns Washington’s actions and considers them illegitimate.
The Kremlin condemned US and British strikes on Yemen
The Russian leader's spokesman stressed that the resolution previously adopted in the UN Security Council, demanding that the Houthis immediately stop attacks on ships, does not provide any right to carry out strikes.
A resolution was adopted, we abstained. And the countries that struck tried to provide an international legal basis for their actions. This attempt was unsuccessful, because the adopted resolution does not provide any right to strike. And, accordingly, from the point of view of international law they are illegitimate
At the same time, according to Peskov, Russia has repeatedly called on the Houthis to abandon the practice of striking international commercial ships, since it considers it wrong.
Erdogan accused the US and UK of trying to create a sea of blood
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has accused the US and UK of using disproportionate force to attack Houthi militia targets in Yemen.
They have used disproportionate force, they are trying to turn the Red Sea into a sea of blood. Israel does the same in Palestine
The Turkish leader added that Ankara is receiving news about the situation through many channels. In his opinion, “the Houthis are responding successfully” to the measures taken by the United States.

Iran calls US and UK strike on Yemen arbitrary
The official representative of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Kanani Chafi, condemned and called the massive strike by Washington and London on the Houthi positions arbitrary.
According to the diplomat, in this way the countries violated the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Yemen, as well as international law. He stressed that the attack will not bring any results, but will only lead to increased instability in the region
Kanani appealed to the international community to prevent the escalation of the military conflict, as well as to take measures to eliminate instability and restore security in the region.
A massive blow to Yemen came after a series of attacks on ships
The USA and Britain used combat aircraft for strikes. Tomahawk cruise missiles mounted on destroyers were launched from the sea at the Middle Eastern country. In addition, the Ohio-class nuclear submarine USS Florida was involved. The Netherlands, Canada and Bahrain provided non-combat support to the partners.
The military operation was a response to constant shelling of transport and warships by the Yemeni Houthis, who are believed to be actively supported by Iran. The shelling began as a sign of support for the Gaza Strip, which is undergoing an Israeli military operation.
Since 2002, the United States has carried out nearly 400 strikes against targets in Yemen. The current operation is the first since 2016.
