There are many big names in Warner’s cartoon fighting game MultiVersus, but one bigger than all the others may soon arrive. We are talking about Big Chungus and of the trademark that was filed by Warner Bros.
Big Chungus originates from a 1941 Merrie Melodies cartoon in which Elmer Fudd tries to find some peace and quiet in Jellostone Park, and Bugs Bunny, for no reason, immediately and without provocation begins to haunt him. In one of his digressions, Bugs puffs up to tease Elmer, who was noticeably obese and bulbous-headed in this first iteration.

The trademark registration does not specifically mention MultiVersus, but does cover gaming software and a range of other goods and services. MultiVersus seems like the natural, even obvious solution: the meme came to life far beyond its Internet roots, and in fact Big Chungus is now probably part of the official Looney Tunes canon thanks to his appearance in Looney Tunes World of Mayhem, a mobile game. released for iOS and Android devices.
MultiVersus has already got into the habit of drawing inspiration from the Internet culture. Shaggy’s in-game moveset is based on the “Ultra Instinct Shaggy” meme, so why not include Big Chungus as well? All that remains is to wait and see if the character will actually be inserted in some way.
