It is becoming apparent that a “2G Plus” rule could be introduced for Christmas markets and other events, reports the portal oe24.at. “2G Plus” means that vaccinated and convalescent patients also have a current, negative PCR test. The requirement already applies in hospitals, but “acute cases” are excluded. Unvaccinated people look into the tube.

Meanwhile, among the almost 100 political districts in Austria, the number of those in which exit is only possible for recovered, vaccinated or tested citizens is growing. According to the authorities, the districts of Landeck and Reutte in Tyrol will also be affected by the measure from Friday. So far, the departure in 14 districts in Lower and Upper Austria has been randomly checked. Exceptions apply for transit, if possible without a stopover, and for goods traffic.
At the beginning of the week, the number of intensive care beds occupied by Covid 19 patients had exceeded the threshold of 300, so stage two of a five-stage corona action plan now applies in the country. On Wednesday Austria recorded an annual record with 6506 new corona infections, the incidence rose nationwide to 429. The vaccination rate is currently around 66 percent. (frs with material from dpa)
