The “World Customs Organization” and the “Global Logistics Passport” program concluded a cooperation agreement to continue their efforts to accelerate the adoption of the Accredited Economic Operator, a voluntary compliance and security program that relies on the foundations of a secure structure for the World Customs Organization, during a meeting between the two parties in Davos on the sidelines of the activities Annual meeting of the World Economic Forum.
A spokesman for the “Global Logistics Passport” program said that the global trade movement faced many challenges during the past few years, which prompted the world during the pandemic period to test the capabilities of the current trade infrastructure due to the impact of the unprecedented health and economic crises. He added, “While the world is heading to recover from the initial shock, difficulties still persist, with severe problems in supply chains around the world, which will create cumulative crises that require rapid treatment. Consequently, global supply chain disruptions lead to a slowdown in economic production in key sectors that are closely related to the economy, negatively affecting the post-pandemic economic recovery phase. The Global Logistics Passport program, led by the private sector and designed to facilitate the flow of global trade, aims to help its members maintain resilient trade flows and foster new global trade relations, in the face of severe shocks to the path of trade flows at the global level.
