Juarez City.- The U.S. Consulate General in Mexico reminded users of international crossings that, as of today, there are new requirements for bringing dogs into the country.
As of today, August 1, 2024, there are new requirements for the entry of dogs including: must be healthy upon arrival, minimum age of six months, mandatory microchip, online shipping receipt of the CDC Dog Importation Form.
Dogs from countries designated by the U.S. government as high risk for canine rabies must be protected against rabies.
Depending on where the dog has been in the past six months and whether it has been vaccinated in the United States, additional conditions may apply, the report said.
The microchip, implanted under the dog’s skin, stores vital information about the animal and its owner and must comply with ISO standard 11784/11785 to ensure it can be read by standard scanners in the United States.
