“Constantine” is one of the most acclaimed films of Keanu Reeves, although it was not so well received at first. Over time it ended up becoming a cult work and there is no fan who has not asked for a sequel.
Much has been said about the project over the years. Director Francis Lawrence said that he had every intention of making it, while actor Peter Stormare reported that it was in development. Now Deadline officially confirmed a second part.
As for the ones we’ll see, fans are wondering if we’ll see the scene with Jesus that the filmmaker wanted so badly to capture. “I love one where Constantine wakes up in a cell and has to identify a prisoner. (…) It was Jesus Christ. He comes and he’s in New York,” he recounted at Comic-Con 2020.
In order to take advantage of the elements of the horror genre, producer Akiva Goldsman added that they want to make an R-rated sequel. This implies that the film would contain violent, sexual content and foul language.
