The bad news is piling up for Conor McGregor. The superstar has been convicted of a civil sexual assault on a woman in 2018 in Ireland, and was forced to pay 250,000 euros for the facts that have been proven. However, the sentence is not final, so the mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter has announced that he will appeal the sentence.
«I am going to appeal today’s decision. The judge’s instruction and the modest compensation awarded were for assault, not for aggravated or exemplary damages. I am disappointed that the jury did not hear all the evidence that the Prosecutor’s Office reviewed.. Now I am with my family, focused on my future. Thanks to everyone for the support,” said the Irishman on ‘X’, former Twitter.

The jury, made up of eight women and four men, reached its verdict after six hours and 10 minutes of deliberation. The plaintiff, Nikita Hand, alleged that McGregor sexually assaulted her on December 9, 2018, and that another man, James Lawrence, did the same, Ireland’s highest court has examined during two weeks of evidence.
For his part, McGregor has denied these accusations and has stated that he had “completely consensual sex” with Hand. Likewise, he has stated that he did not cause any injuries to the plaintiff. Hand’s defense has told the judge that when she was referred to a sexual assault treatment unit the day after the alleged assault, a doctor was so concerned that he ordered photographs of her injuries to be taken.
As the plaintiff explained, she and a friend met up with McGregor, whom she knew, after a Christmas work party. Thus, he added that the Irishman took them to a party in an attic room of a hotel in south Dublin, where alcohol and drugs were consumed.
She also added that McGregor took her to one of the bedrooms and sexually abused her. Hand’s lawyer, John Gordon, has stated that the plaintiff had taken antidepressants and drugs at the time of the events.
