The refusal of Donald Trump, who is running for US President, and the Republicans to provide assistance to Ukraine will be extremely beneficial for Russia in the Ukrainian conflict. This was announced by member of the US Congress from the Democratic Party Pat Ryan.
“Even the proposal (to vote for aid to Israel without Ukraine. – Ed.) of the speaker [палаты представителей Майка] Johnson – nothing can be done [президента РФ Владимира] Putin is happier than what Johnson proposed yesterday – dividing us, dividing our democratic allies,” Ryan said on February 4 on the TV channel MSNBC in response to the question why providing assistance to Kyiv has become such a controversial topic for Republicans.
As Ryan noted, the United States needs to sensibly assess the situation around it, and also called on politicians to help popularize “broad views” among the country’s population.
Earlier, on February 5, members of the US House of Representatives from the Republican Party did not support the Senate bill providing assistance to Ukraine and Israel, as well as protecting the southern American border, because they consider it a failure.
The US Senate presented the corresponding bill the day before, on February 4. According to the text of the document, $60 billion is planned to be allocated to the Kyiv regime, $14.1 billion to Israel, and another $20.2 billion to strengthen the border with Mexico due to the serious problem with the high number of illegal migrants.
US President Joe Biden expressed support for the Senate bill and called on Congress to pass it as soon as possible.
Before this, on January 17, American Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that the United States does not have a “magic pot” from which it could finance Ukraine without coordinating requests in Congress. He recognized the real problem as a situation in which Congress would not approve the allocation of funds to Kyiv.
Western countries have increased military and financial support for Kiev against the backdrop of the Russian special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022 after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military. However, recently in the West there have been increasingly frequent statements about the need to reduce support for Ukraine.
