Concord like Anthem? Apparently, several users are drawing parallels between the two products, comparing the proportions of their respective failures, but according to analyst Mat Piscatella, these are actually very different situations.
“What’s happening with Concord is unprecedented,” Piscatella wrote. “I see people comparing the game to Anthem, but that’s wrong: BioWare’s title It was the best-selling product in the US during its launch monthFebruary 2019, and the fifteenth best-selling game of that year.”
“Furthermore, Anthem can still be played today,” added the analyst, underlining how instead Concord has actually been shut down and is no longer accessible even by those who regularly purchased it: people who will be able to request a refund as indicated by Sony.
Will it return as free-to-play? Piscatella has some doubts
As we know, several insiders imagine that Concord could return as free-to-play, and in fact at the current state this is probably the only possible way where Sony somehow wants to recover the project created by Firewalk Studios.
However, Piscatella has doubts about the success of such an operation. “On the one hand, the game and intellectual property in general were roundly rejected by usersto the point that one might think that the brand is completely irrecoverable,” the analyst explained to IGN.
“On the other hand, there were so few people who knew about the game that Sony could really relaunch it with a different business model and a significant refresh. I think this is an unprecedented situation and all opinions are equally valid at the moment.”
