On the eve of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, announcing this Monday whether he is leaving office or staying, as his people have asked him this weekend in Madrid, Cartagena and Murcia, the political parties of the Region maintained this Sunday the pulse around the decision of the socialist leader. The Citizen Forum braved the rain and concentrated on supporting the general secretary of the socialists and the government coalition.
For the spokesperson of the PSRM-PSOE, Carmina Fernández, what the leader of her party has done is give “a blow on the table” in the face of “the campaign of harassment, lies and tension of the right and the extreme right.”
Fernández also had words towards the “mud machinery”, which he claims was put in place as soon as Pedro Sánchez became leader of the opposition. “This week we learned through the media that the Government of Mariano Rajoy ordered Commissioner Villarejo to spy on the current President of the Government in 2014.”
They don't see it the same way from the Popular Party. This Sunday, deputy Miriam Guardiola assured that by opening a five-day parenthesis to reflect, Sánchez intends to “wash his image”, put on “the suit of a victim” and divert the focus of attention from the judicial scandals.
For her part, Podemos deputy in the Assembly María Marín pointed out that the solution at this moment is not to flee, in reference to the possibility of the president resigning today, but to stay and “stand up to lawfare.” In her opinion, what the president has to do is remain in office, renew the judicial leadership and take measures against the media that spread hoaxes.
Where Miriam Guardiola sees “a frivolous use of the institutions” in reference to the five-day suspension of the president's agenda, the socialist deputy Carmina Fernández criticizes “the sexist vision of Feijóo's PP”, which considers that the woman in a position public, in this case, Pedro Sánchez, must stay home to avoid causing problems.
Citizen Forum
With the politicians in the fray, the Citizen Forum organized two rallies this Sunday, in Cartagena and Murcia, under the motto 'Defend democracy, democratize justice'. Both were raised to make visible support for the “progressive coalition” and denounce “the hate strategy” of the Popular Party and Vox. The leader of the PSRM, José Vélez, led the protest in Belluga.
