For the time being, the arena will continue to operate under its former name, Tampereen Kanne Arena.
Tampere the board of the multipurpose arena has decided to terminate the name agreement with the technology company Uros. For the time being, the arena will continue to operate under its former name, Tampereen Kanne Arena.
The reason for the decision is Uros’ financial and other ambiguities, which have been reported by BTI and other media.
Uros is a company with an Oulu background that says its business is built around the so-called Internet of Things, or ioT services. Simplified, the company will increase access to the Internet for the equipment of its customer partner companies.
The general public learned about the company in March 2020, when the multi-purpose arena, which will be completed in Tampere in December this year, was named the Uros Live arena according to its sponsor.
Male has risen recently in publicity due to the company’s financial difficulties and the fact that Uros has not been able to repay millions of euros in R&D and other loans on time.
HS said earlier in October that the technology company Uros, which reports billions of euros in consolidated turnover, has failed to pay several small bills from July.
STT reported earlier this month that Uros has paid only interest on its Business Finland loans for almost ten years and only a part of them, less than 400,000 euros. The non-payment of the loans is strange, as the company claims to have made a total operating profit of more than EUR 300 million in 2017–2019 alone.
In September, STT said that there is probably no similar real business behind the huge profits reported by the company.
“The publicity received by Uros Oy is also strongly and negatively connected to the arena. In addition, disclosures about the financial position of the name partner have raised serious doubts as to whether the company will be able to meet its obligations under the name agreement in the future. For these reasons, the arena company does not see opportunities to continue cooperating, so in this situation we think the decision is the only right one, ”commented the arena company’s CEO. Marko Hurme relevant in the bulletin.
