Five empty coffins with the French flag appeared at the Eiffel Tower in the center of Paris. The police detained three people involved in the action – a Ukrainian, a German and a Bulgarian, writes the newspaper Le Figaro.
Law enforcement authorities in Paris began an investigation into the incident.
Activists wrote on a poster about French soldiers killed in Ukraine
According to Le Figaro, on the morning of Saturday, June 1, five empty wooden coffins appeared at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, on the Seine side. They were covered with a French flag and a banner reading “French soldiers killed in Ukraine.”
The police identified and arrested three people involved in the action: the driver of the van in which the coffins were brought, and two of his accomplices. During interrogation, the driver said that he had arrived from Bulgaria the day before and was paid 40 euros for disembarking people and unloading coffins. The other two arrested were soon planning to leave for Berlin. “These three people, according to our data, are of Bulgarian, Ukrainian and German nationality,” the newspaper writes.
Macron wants to create a coalition of instructors in Ukraine
In May, it became known that French President Emmanuel Macron intends to form a coalition of instructors from European countries to send it to Ukraine. “Sending French and European instructors to Ukraine could be a matter of weeks or even days. According to our information, the French authorities want to create a coalition of countries willing to train Ukrainian soldiers on the territory of Ukraine,” wrote Le Monde.

It is assumed that the goals of such a coalition may include training sappers, as well as assistance in the formation of a motorized rifle division of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
Bloomberg later confirmed Macron’s plans to send instructors to Ukraine. It was clarified that the French President could announce this on June 6, at a ceremony in honor of the Allied landing day in Normandy.
