Cofepris approves drug against Alzheimer's and evaluation of treatment of advanced solid tumors

Drug to treat Alzheimer's and five new clinical trials approvedamong them, a protocol aimed at evaluating the treatment of advanced solid tumors, the Federal Commission for the Protection against Health Risks (Cofepris).

The Cofepris announced that they approved 238 new health supplies during the second half of January, including a medicine to treat Alzheimer's disease mild to moderately severe.

The Cofepris He added that clinical trials are in humans and seek to find effective and safe health supplies for diagnosis, treatment and/or prevention of diseases.

In addition, 229 new medical devices were approved, 80 of which are aimed at medical care, such as guide wires for angioplasty, catheters for biliary drainage, vein separators, sutures and surgical clothing.

57 new medical equipment was also approved, such as automatic analyzers, X-ray equipment, surgical lasers, blood component separators, blood pressure monitors, surgical instruments, among others.

Finally, the Cofepris gave approval to 92 new devices intended for the diagnosis and measurement of troponin, SARS-CoV-2Helicobacter pylori, Brucella abortus, influenza, hepatitis C, blood electrolytes, ferritin and thyroid hormones.
