Ciudad Juarez.– This past weekend, the General Directorate of Civil Protection carried out a new operation to detect those private properties that provide services such as terraces or gardens for events without having the proper permit, reported Sergio Rodríguez, head of the agency.
The official said that five visits were made, four to terraces and one to a house with a pool; two of these terraces were closed due to lack of documentation.
The public servant said that these businesses are required to comply with all requirements for their operation, in order to prevent accidents.
These businesses, which are experiencing a boom during this summer season, must have an operating license, a land use license, neighborhood consent and a capacity, procedures granted by the Urban Development Directorate.
As well as the annual verification report on security measures issued by the General Directorate of Civil Protection.
For establishments that have swimming pools, there is a specific regulation on civil protection measures, which establishes that it is mandatory to have a lifeguard certified by Civil Protection, an emergency telephone, a life-saving float, a visor, a first aid kit, a whistle and foam rescue tubes.
In addition, all establishments must have visible signs containing basic safety rules, an emergency plan and evacuation routes; chemicals used for pool maintenance must be stored and out of reach of users.
It is also essential that valves and pipes for pumps, electrical panels and boiler systems are clearly identified and have an emergency system to deactivate them if necessary.
In case of emergency, Rodriguez reminded citizens to call 911 immediately.
