Morelia, Mexico.– Agents of the Civil Guard of Michoacán took over the facilities of the institution to demand the resignation of the head of the Ministry of Public Security (SSP), José Alfredo Ortega, whom they accuse of abuse of power, labor violations, harassment, corruption and misconduct payment of a federal stimulus.
Starting at 8:00 a.m. this Tuesday, the uniformed officers appeared at the SSP offices located in Morelia, the state capital, and an hour later the doors were closed to give rise to a sit-down protest.
The protesters, who also blocked the city’s South Bypass, outside the headquarters of the Public Order Restoration Group, pointed out that the federal bonus, which was initially 5,500 pesos, had a cut per element from 800 to 1,000. 400 pesos.
“Enough of the abuse of power!”, “Mr. Governor, don’t mess with our salary”, “We demand our full BanBajío bonus (federal bonus), “We demand the dismissal of the secretary and his Cabinet”, “Salary increase, make There is no 7 years,” said some cards.
The elements that this Tuesday stopped carrying out their operational functions indicated that the strike will last until the authorities, who ignored them or even punished them days ago for the demand, offer a solution to their demands.
One case of punishment occurred against officer Guillermina, who said that in addition to being sent to work without identification, she has faced fear, fabrication of crimes and financial punishments for expressing her disagreements.
“By order of Commander Jonathan, they have me stationed at the doors for eight hours, from Monday to Friday. I have been three months since March, without a commission, without a credential, I am in limbo and without shoal (federal bonus). What is it about? “It is said that we are here to comply, care and ensure the citizens, the rights, when they are violating and trampling our rights,” he stated.
“I am afraid that they will disappear me and from here, from the Government itself and I tell you this openly. I am a police officer and sometimes it makes me sad that they violate our rights and nothing happens. How do you help the citizens? They took 5 thousand pesos from me since March “he added.
The protesters stated that they have even gone to the Michoacán Human Rights Commission, but their complaints have not been processed.
Although government personnel began a dialogue with the protesters, it broke down when the officials denied the request that members of the press enter the meeting to witness what was exposed.
