The Citroen C3 range expands with the debut of the new version Aircross. After having released the first images of the model only two months ago, the French car manufacturer today revealed all the details relating to its new SUV, and did so in the setting of Saint-Germain-en-Laye, a municipality located in the Yvelines department in the Île-de-France region. A crossover similar in some ways to the sedan version of the C3, think of the stylistic identity, the guarantee of space and comfort on board, or even the Smart Car platform. Yet, distinctive elements are not lacking.
Distinctive design
In terms of design, the new Citroen C3 Aircross stands out for the presence of the front new logo and the characteristic 3-segment light signature. There are several graphic elements that recall the chevron motif, a separate mention for the two-tone roof and a series of chromatic touches given by the Color Clip inserts, present both on the bumper and on the fixed side window trims and in any case replaceable as desired by the customer. We are talking about a B-segment crossover 4.39 meters long and with a wheelbase of 2.67 metres, and which stands out for having a high and horizontal bonnet, as well as wider fenders and tracks and solid and protective shoulders to “protect” large wheels with a diameter of 690 mm.
Spacious and tech interiors
Moving inside the passenger compartment, the first feature that catches the eye is that we are faced with a compact SUV with a maximum of 7 seats. Citroen defines this specification as “an important innovation in the segment”, made possible by the presence of two retractable seats in the boot: with all the seats unfolded, the boot volume is 40 liters and 330 liters in the 5-seater configuration. Also offered one 5 seater version of the model, which boasts record space in the second row and above all a 460-litre boot.
Unparalleled comfort
Chapter comfort: Citroen’s exclusive Advanced Comfort suspension is standard on all versions of the C3 Aircross, also featuring the new Advanced Comfort seats featuring a new surface with 10-15 mm of extra foam. The horizontal dashboard is divided into two levels: technical elements at the top and comfort at the bottom. Talking about technologythe driver has at his disposal a Head-Up Display placed above a small multi-function steering wheel and a latest generation infotainment system which incorporates a 10.25″ touch screen.
Motor range for all tastes
Wide and varied motorsport line-up, thanks to the fact that Citroen has decided to position an accessible hybrid range and a 100% electric version of the SUV alongside a traditional thermal offering. There Hybrid 136 version it is equipped with a new 3-cylinder engine developing 100 kW/136 HP and an electrified e-CDT dual-clutch automatic transmission, which incorporates a 21 kW/28 HP electric powertrain powered by a 48 V lithium battery located under the flooring. Alongside it, here is the version with a petrol engine PureTech Turbo 100 MT6 75 kW/100 hp 3-cylinder engine coupled to a six-speed manual transmission. To complete the offer, there is also a full electric version of the new C3 Aircross (in the 5-seater configuration).
Electric Citroen C3 Aircross
Separate focus on this latest version of the new compact SUV from the French company. It is powered by an 83 kW/113 hp motor combined with a 44 kWh LFP battery, which promises an autonomy of over 300 km (the approval process is still ongoing). The maximum speed is limited to 145 km/h. Chapter recharge: Standard AC charging from 20% to 80% battery takes approximately 4 hours and 10 minutes using 7 kW of power and approximately 2 hours and 50 minutes using 11 kW of power. But that’s not all: fast charging is also available with a 100 kW DC charger, which takes just 26 minutes to go from 20% to 80% charge. Citroen has announced that an electric version of the SUV equipped with a different batterywhich extends the range to over 400 km.
Prices from 18,790 euros
We conclude with prices. The complete price list has yet to be released, but in the meantime we know that, according to Citroen, we are faced with the first B-SUV on the European market to be offered at a price lower than 30,000 euros in the 100% electric version, approximately 25,000 euros in the Hybrid version 136 and less than 20,000 euros in the PureTech turbo 100 MT6 petrol version. What is certain is that C3 Aircross orders will open in Italy tomorrow, with the price list starting from 18,790 euros for the YOU petrol version. We remember that the YOU setup (can be completed with the PLUS package and placed in the range below the MAX level) as standard includes the Citroën Advanced Comfort suspension, 6 airbags, manual climate control, Smartphone station, active safety braking, active lane departure warning system, warning driver attention, cruise control with speed limiter, speed sign recognition, rear parking sensors, automatic switching on of the lights, driver’s seat height adjustment, electric front windows, 40/60 folding rear seat, LED headlights and daytime running lights, and 16″ wheels.
