Cities Skylines 2 was released with a lot of performance issues at launch, as you probably remember. After the enormous success of the first chapter, Colossal Order raised the bar with the second but when it came time to deliver a new title to players it missed the target, then slowly began to improve what was proposed. The situation is certainly not yet under control, but according to the players things have improved somewhat.
The information comes from a survey organized by developers via Twitter, where it was asked if Cities Skylines 2’s performance has improved since the most recent update. As you can see below, when user ratings closed, 38% of users said things were positive.
Of course it doesn’t mean that 38% of players who responded think that everything is perfectly fine, but that at least things have improved. Furthermore, 28.7% continue to consider the performance unstable, with 33.3% not particularly happy.
This wouldn’t be positive results for many games, but for where Cities Skylines 2 is at is an indicator that some progress has been made.
The latest patch for Cities Skylines 2 brings a huge amount of changes to the game, with more than 30 bug fixes, improvements to the official Paradox modding platform and editing tools, as well as gameplay overhauls that increase mouse speed and redesigns of some components.
The latest issues in Cities Skylines 2
Cities Skylines 2, as mentioned, has exhibited various problems since launch, but things have gotten worse over the months. The console versions have been delayed several times and the team has released a DLC – Beach Properties – which became the lowest rated product ever on Steam. The reaction was so negative that the team decided to refund players and make the content free: it was in fact added in the latest patch.
The positive news was the arrival of mod support in March, which has now been improved with the update. Let’s hope that the next few months are more positive for the game and that it manages to “resurrect”.
