They ask for a second exit to attend to the facilities when the guard covers an incident and the remodeling of the facilities, which have not been rehabilitated since their inauguration in the 1980s.
The firefighters of the Cieza park protested against the shortage of personnel that this station suffers, where there are only five firefighters daily without a second exit that attends the facilities when the day guard has to attend an accident, according to Sergio Rubén Nicolás, secretary of the Staff Board and delegate of Workers’ Commissions within the Consortium of Firefighting and Rescue of the Region of Murcia.
In addition, the firefighters recalled that the facilities, inaugurated in the mid-1980s, “have not been remodeled since then, with the exception of the bedroom area, the control room and the dining room, rooms that were refurbished last year.”
On the other hand, and despite the fact that in Cieza there are several buildings that exceed 10 floors, they point out that for a few years, the park has not had a scale vehicle. «The Cieza park is the third most important by number of exits of all that the Consortium has, so it is essential that as soon as possible there is a second exit that can deal with a second parallel accident».
The mayor of Cieza, Pascual Lucas, joined the claims of these firefighters and urged the regional authorities to “increase the workforce as soon as possible so that the inhabitants of this city and other municipalities in the region are well cared for.” The councilor also recalled the need to “begin with the second phase of the works to complete the remodeling of the main nave of the park.” The fire station is located at the Cieza Sur entrance from the A-30 motorway. Its workforce is about 25 effective for a population of more than 60,000 inhabitants of the municipalities of Cieza, Abarán, Blanca, Ricote, Ojós, Ulea and Villanueva del Río Segura.
