Chilean President Gabriel Buric announced before parliament in Santiago that Chile will join South Africa in the legal case submitted before the International Court of Justice accusing Israel of committing acts of “genocide” during the war on the Gaza Strip.
He added that Chile will join and support the lawsuit filed by South Africa.
Chile called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and recognition of the two-state solution in a post on the Foreign Ministry’s page on the “X” platform. South Africa filed a legal case in The Hague at the end of last year. The Court of Justice issued a temporary ruling requiring Israel to take “all measures to prevent acts of genocide and allow humanitarian aid to reach civilians.”
At the end of last month, the court ordered an immediate halt to the Israeli aggression against Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.
