The scandal in Congress follows clashes with stones and whips over the weekend between supporters and opponents of the new constitution in downtown Santiago. One person was injured after being hit by a horse-drawn cart.
Last Friday, a performance by an LGBTI+ artistic group at a campaign event in favor of the new Constitution also caused a scandal when one of its members simulated an abortion by removing the Chilean flag from her anus.
On Sunday, more than 15 million voters will define whether they approve or reject the new Constitution, which seeks to replace the current Magna Carta inherited from the Augusto Pinochet dictatorship (1973-1990).
