Moment then Children’s news received an authoritative invitation. President Alexander Stubb invited the children’s news media to a meeting at the Presidential Palace. We headed there by Matias Henricson, 11, with. He eagerly follows the events of politics and the world and had come up with tough questions for the president.
President of the Republic of Finland Caj-Göran Alexander Stubb, are you ready?
“Yes.”
What did you think when you won the presidential election?
“Yes, of course it felt good. When we hugged with the family, we thought that this is where the new era of life starts. It is one of the biggest honorary positions you can get in Finland. We were happy as a family and so was I personally.”
You have been the president of the republic for a couple of months now. How difficult is the job on a scale of 1-10? How do you justify your answer?
“It shouldn’t be underestimated, but let’s put it in half, i.e. in vitos. This slipped into place easily and immediately. Maybe due to the fact that I have experience and that foreign and security policy is in the glove. Every day there are new things to tackle.”
You have also been the prime minister of Finland. On a scale of 1–10, how difficult was this wash for you?
“Yes, it was more around ten there. The difference between the positions of the Finnish president and the prime minister is a bit funny. An awful lot of people want the prime minister to fail. For example, for political reasons. And an awful lot of people want the president to succeed. Because of that, it was much more difficult for me to be prime minister than it is now president.”
“
“I’m not allowed to hold the phone too much.”
You said before the election that you should move for an hour a day, read for an hour and use the phone only for an hour. Has this come true as president? And will it continue to happen?
“Yes, it has worked out quite well. I read and exercise a lot in the mornings. I go to bed early and wake up at five. By eight, I’ve usually read for a couple of hours and worked out for an hour. It’s been quite nice in the president’s job that I’m not allowed to hold the phone too much. Yes, I mess up sometimes, but it’s pretty specific about what I can watch and where I can go. So my screen time has decreased.”
What are you going to do to improve the well-being of children and young people?
“It certainly starts with understanding them. And then when you understand, you have to be present. Yesterday, for example, I was visiting a kindergarten. Tomorrow and the day after tomorrow I will visit schools in Lapland. It’s always nice to talk to young people.”
Matias, who actively follows politics, was able to interview President Alexander Stubb.
