No interviews, no photographs and no social media activity. Odilo FC Cartagena CB must win by ten points to advance to LEB Oro and prepares Zamora's comeback in silence. The board of directors and the coaching staff agreed this week not to expose the players in the media and to reduce the club's publications in 'X' as much as possible to put all five senses into tomorrow's grand final (Ángel Nieto, 7:00 p.m.).
The decision to isolate everything that surrounds the team during this week of preparation was agreed upon. Already the previous week, prior to the first leg tie at the Palacio de los Deportes in Cartagena, only the captains Johan Kody, Juanpe Jiménez and Sediq Garuba spoke, in order to avoid distractions, increase concentration and think only about the match. It didn't go well.
A bad experience in January
In January, during the days prior to the final of the LEB Plata Cup in Zamora (it ended with a defeat for Albinegra), Cebé organized an open day, opened the door for everything to be broadcast and even organized a visit from the authorities policies. Now, silence, concentration and work reign just a few hours before facing the most important match in the entire history of the club.
Thus, the Albinegra expedition will embark on a seven-hour bus ride to Zamora this afternoon after a final training session in Cartagena. Players, coaching staff, communication department and sports management will stop along the way at two in the afternoon, in La Roda, to eat. At eleven in the morning on Saturday the squad will make the first and last contact at the Ángel Nieto pavilion before the game. By then, a large group of managers will already be on their way to Zamora in private vehicles. President David Ayala will be in the box; vice presidents Salvador Nieto and Carlos Eduardo; Secretary Pencho Cegarra; the vocalist Pedro Celdrán and the speaker Chema Martínez, in addition to more than a hundred fans.
The presence of Rodrigo Rodríguez, founder of the main sponsor Odilo, is also scheduled; and the person in charge of the sports sections of Efesé Mariano Belmonte. It remains to be confirmed whether Sports Councilor José Martínez or Mayor Noelia Arroyo will travel.
Goodbye to vomiting
The good news for Cebé, in terms of sports, is that all the players are perfectly recovered. Last week, prior to the first leg tie, was marked by severe gastroenteritis in players like Asier González, Sediq Garuba and Josep Fermí. Jordan Rogers also suffered some physical discomfort.
