CDU chairman Merz elected parliamentary group chairman with a large majority

Dhe CDU chairman Friedrich Merz was also elected head of the Union faction in the Bundestag by a large majority. According to information from faction groups, Merz received 162 of 186 votes cast in the election on Tuesday in Berlin. Merz was already chairman of the deputies of the CDU and CSU from 2000 to 2002.
