The entity will present teams with calendar suggestions to accommodate matches postponed due to rain in RS on Monday (27 May)
The president of CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation), Ednaldo Rodrigues, said this Sunday (May 26, 2024) that the entity wants to keep December 8 as the final date of the Brasileirão.
In an interview with SportTVRodrigues declared that the CBF will present to the clubs, on Monday (May 27), its suggestions for dates for holding the games postponed due to the rains that hit Rio Grande do Sul, but stressed that changing the final date of the competition will not is in the interest of the entity.
“CBF’s proposal is to maintain the calendar for 2024 until December 8th. Let’s talk to all the clubs. The CBF will provide several solutions so that the competition can end within what was planned for the 2024 calendar.”said the president.
Rodrigues stated that the CBF will propose holding more games during the Copa América period, even if this idea does not please the clubs that will lose players to their national teams during this period. The Copa América 2024 will be held from June 21st to July 15th.
Regarding the clubs’ reaction to the idea of more games during this period in which they will be absent, Rodrigues stated that the teams will need to demonstrate “detachment” so that the championship can be concluded without too much damage to the calendar.
“Each person has to have a little detachment so that we can reconcile. And the CBF will look for the best possible alternative so that this doesn’t happen in such an extensive way”he declared.
