The Minister of Economy and Finance and spokesperson for the Board, Carlos Fernández Carriedo, has announced that the Executive will appeal the tax on energy companies announced by the Government through judicial channels, since, as he has defended, it “harms” and promotes ” inequality” between autonomous communities.
In the press conference after the Government Council, the spokesperson stated that the Board has analyzed the possible impact that this tax would have on the Community and has rejected the possibility that the tax have a specific collection for the autonomous regions of the regional regime.
Fernández Carriedo has regretted that the situation of this tax leads various energy companies to promote their investments “outside of Spain” and has insisted that the possibility that the autonomous regions of the regional regime may have a specific regulatory capacity regarding this matter, which would break the principle of “equality and equity”, since they would have the capacity to establish a “prohibited bonus for the rest”, reports Ep.
Given this situation, Fernández Carriedo has advanced that the legal services will study at all times the content and regulation of this tax that they will appeal as soon as it is approved. “We cannot allow inequality between Spaniards and that due to the weakness of the government it leads to the breakdown of equality among Spaniards,” he concluded.
