Not only an overall standings fully back in balance. The Porsche Carrera Cup Italia boasts a Michelin Cup that is… fighting. In the category, balance has never been lacking, but this year the alternation at the top of the races and standings and the duels on the track are truly at the top of the competitive spirit. In Imola, in race 2 of the fourth round this afternoon, the first and somewhat longed-for center by Cesare Brusa also arrived.
The driver from Bergamo of Prima Ghinzani is in his first season in the Italian single-make series and therefore pays a bit of experience to the competition. On the Santerno circuit, one of the most complex, he really dominated in qualifying and after having experienced a more complicated race 1 than expected in race 2 he led a flag-to-flag that was never in doubt and won in the most difficult conditions, that is, in the wet, although not extreme.
“Today went well and I’m happy – Brusa then exulted –; unfortunately we wasted yesterday’s race, when I started too conservatively, thinking I had a margin. A factor that in reality was only in my head. In race 2 instead we won well, I was among the Pros and I had a good feeling with the car even though I had never actually driven it in these conditions. I’m happy and it was also necessary for morale. Now Vallelunga, it’s not my favorite track but we’ll give it our all as we did here in Imola.”
The title contenders will certainly have to work hard, and in truth there are several of them, currently led by Francesco Fenici, who came second twice in a comeback at Imola with Raptor Engineering and who rebounded to the top on his own after a one-night interregnum by reigning champion Alberto De Amicis, who had won race 1 with Ebimotors.
The gaps are still minimal, just one point between the two and certainly not abysmal compared to the pursuers: in fact in Vallelunga, in two weeks, right on the home circuit of Fenici and De Amicis, we will start from scratch…
