The twenty-fifth edition of the Latin Grammys celebrated a quarter of a century of Latin music history, with Carlos Vives as person of the year and awards widely distributed among different artists and different genres.
The main winner was the Dominican Juan Luis Guerra, who took home four awards, followed by Nathy Peluso and Édgar Barrera, with three awards each.
The main categories of song of the year, recording of the year and album of the year were in the hands of Jorge Drexler with ‘Derrumbe’, ‘Mambo 23’ and ‘Radio Güira’ by Juan Luis Guerra, respectively.
“I never thought something like this could happen with a song so short, so sad and different,” said Drexler, who won two gramophones and dedicated them to his father, who died 11 days ago.
Women made history. The three awards that Peluso received brought her a total of five Latin Grammys during her career, tying her with the legendary Mercedes Sosa.
“This is more than I ever dreamed of. “Everyone who knows me knows what Mercedes represents to me in terms of the value of identity and representation,” he indicated.
In addition, Karol G became the first woman to win two Latin Grammys in the category of best urban album with ‘Mañana will be Bonito-Bichota Season’.
Mexican-American composer Édgar Barrera also received three awards, who was the most nominated of the night with nine. Bad Bunny and Karol G followed, with eight. The Puerto Rican, who was absent, received a Latin Grammy.

Carlos Vives opened the ceremony with an energetic presentation that quickly connected with the audience. He performed some of his most recognized hits, such as ‘Fruta Fresca’ and ‘La Bicicleta’, captivating those present from the first moment and marking what would be a celebration of the history of the Academy of Latin Music.
“For decades you have embodied the spirit of an artist representing his people and have dedicated your voice to creating a better world.” “Your legacy expands beyond the stage, making an impact not only in your community but in the world,” said Bon Jovi when presenting Vives with the Person of the Year award.
The ceremony was hosted by Puerto Rican actress and singer Roselyn Sánchez, who shared the stage with two great legends of Latin music and cinema: Gloria Estefan and Andy García. All three brought a touch of warmth and familiarity that made attendees feel at home.
The reunion of Marc Anthony and La India
Among the highlights of the night was the segment in honor of salsa, produced by Marc Anthony, who sang with La India his anthem ‘Vivir lo Nuestro’. Tito Nieves, Cristian Alicea, Grupo Niche, Luis Figueroa and Oscar D’León also sang. Juan Luis Guerra and his group 4.40 performed ‘Mambo 23’. An emotional tribute was dedicated to figures such as Juan Gabriel, José José and Vicente Fernández. Artists such as David Bisbal, Reik and Carlos Rivera performed ‘Until I met you’ and ‘El triste’, while Alejandro Fernández brought tears to the audience with his performance of ‘I don’t know how to crack’, a tribute to his father, Vicente Fernández .
