just like me It is based on the Argentine film of the same name and tells the story of Fredy (Carlos Alcántara), a 48-year-old bachelor, a womanizer, without children or commitments, who lives as if he were an eternal teenager, until one night he meets Aylín ( Daniela Camaiora), who will turn her whole world and lifestyle upside down. She today she reaches the Peruvian theaters.
“The film talks about the great lack of affection that Fredy has, whose most important point is not wanting to grow old. I know people my age who don’t accept the passage of time and go about painting their hair. I have nothing against them, it seems great to me, I say this because we see it on television, in Congress, where many men who are over fifty do not assume their age, and that is what happens to Fredy, “says the actor about the story in which Andrea Montenegro and the first actors Sonia Seminario and Gustavo Bueno also act.

“I decided to be in this remake because I think I could bring a lot of things. I always wanted to have a daughter and I have also had my party time, where I only lived at night and my only desire was to meet a girl. I’ve lived a little like that, I don’t have to hide it. I think the movie talks about how you feel more inside than outside. I doubt that someone who appears to be anything is happy. I’ve also been through that time, when I was self-conscious, when I didn’t say I lived in Mirones, I made up that I had another last name, another school, everything. That I think never has a good ending because it’s not you. I think the message is to accept yourself and life will definitely be better, otherwise look at how many guys have come out of the closet and are now happy after living for years hiding their orientation.
That’s how it is. Various characters in the show have done so.
But they have also taken a long time and it will be because we do not live in a country where it is not seen as something ‘normal’. I who have been able to travel to more developed cities, and see boys and girls on the street hand in hand showing love, I see it as something normal. Not like here, where if you see a gay couple kissing, instead of saying they love each other, they say they’re ‘snogging’.

I would invite them to take off that rather heavy backpack of a lifetime and that they be free of luggage, happy as they are, that no one is going to judge them. And that they are not thinking about what they will say. We are used to paying close attention to what others say, and you cannot live like this because you will not find the path to tranquility, I am not even saying the path to happiness because happiness can also be sublime, temporary, momentary, but you can have peace of mind forever.
You have a Spanish film to release, another to shoot in the Dominican Republic and your directorial debut. What has working abroad given you?
Many satisfactions. The desire to seek other horizons is because you realize that cinema has a range of possibilities, stories, scripts, directors, other colleagues with whom I never imagined working. People I knew from the series. What could I imagine acting with Paz Vega, with Amaia Salamanca, Luisiana Lopilato, Javier Cámara, María Barranco! No, forget it. I have had beautiful things.

What encouraged you to direct the spin-off of Asu mare, when you had already said ‘never again’?
I had said no, but in the face of so much demand and so many people on the street asking me when part four is coming, I said that I prefer to make a film about friends, a story about them, and I will not be there because I will direct it. Although I will surely leave at some point in the film.
It will be your debut feature.
Yes, it is a path that I am starting and I believe that if I do it well and like my work, with Tondero we have the possibility of directing other stories and not just comedy. Before I have been as a producer and post-production, but here I will be the director. Right now I am working on two things, learning the script that I will have in the Dominican Republic and the script for Asu mare. And I’m already going crazy.
