The atmosphere in the Municipal Electoral Council of San Quintín is experiencing moments of tension before the close results of the Preliminary Electoral Results Program (PREP) from Baja California. The first demonstrations of dissidents have even already taken place, as well as supporters of the candidates who could virtually come in first and second place in the race.
At the 3:30 p.m. cut-off this Monday, June 3, with the total PREP minutes computed, the Morenista Miriam Elizabeth Cano Nuñez was the possible winner of the municipal president election by obtaining 10,670 votes in favor. However, the independent candidate Alfredo Aviña Galván could come up with a surprise because he obtained 9,187 votes in favor. Therefore, the difference between the virtual first and second place is 1,400 votes.
Faced with this situation, the Morena candidate chose to remain silent, while her opponent took over social networks to accuse alleged disorganization and omissions in the electoral process.
“Here no one can say winner until it is clear why there are minutes where my name does not appear. Another where people claim that they voted for us and the result appears to be zero. And another where incredibly the result of the count is crossed out,” declared the independent candidate.
Alfredo Aviña reported that he will fight in the legal and social field that “can extend for an indefinite period of time, in which no one can say they are the winner.”
