Minister Blair: Canada will join US Defense Cooperation Initiative
Canada has decided to join the United States’ Indo-Pacific Defense and Industrial Cooperation Initiative. Canadian Defense Minister Bill Blair spoke about this.
“Canada will join the new initiative for the resilience of the defense industrial base in the Indo-Pacific region, which was announced at the forum by US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin,” he said.
Blair also thanked Austin for his “incomparable leadership” around the world. The minister believes that this initiative will strengthen collective security and “will ensure that Canada, the United States and other partners can support various innovations.”
Earlier, a representative of the Russian Embassy in Canada said that foreign instructors located in Ukraine are a legitimate target for the Russian armed forces. The diplomatic mission emphasized that the supply of weapons to Ukraine and the absence of restrictions on their use will not change the situation on the battlefield.
A few days earlier, NATO called for allowing Ukraine to strike military targets on Russian territory. At the same time, the alliance does not plan to send its troops to Ukraine. According to Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, the bloc does not intend to become part of the conflict.
