Following the earthquake in the Campi Flegrei, they were “both ordinary and scheduled hospitalizations are blocked” at the Santa Maria di Pozzuoli hospital in the Neapolitan area. Discharges have begun in the wards, always with ordinary beds. Of the 208 beds, around seventy will remain, only for emergencies and for cancer patients, which will in any case be guaranteed”. Mario Iervolino, general director of the ASL Napoli 2 Nord, described to Adnkronos Sacome how the health facility is organizing itself in relation to the earthquakes that are taking place in the area.
“We are discharging from the departments and I believe that in the next 5 or 6 days we will be able to completely relieve the hospital“, continues Iervolino, recalling that “all the evacuation and massive influx tests have been carried out. We have proposed them again on several occasions in recent months. We even did sea trials. We feel prepared. We also set up tents in the space in front of the 118 station.”
“We have been working for months – underlines Iervolino – in coordination with the ASL Napoli 1, which has neighborhoods close to the Campi Flegrei (Bagnoli, Fuorigrotta), and we have produced together a bradyseism plan, then approved by the Campania Region”, concludes the DG , highlighting that “health workers are certainly worried, but they have not moved from their posts”.
“This morning at 8.28 we had a quake of magnitude 3.6, the District employees went out, but returned an hour later. There is certainly a high capacity for adaptation” he concludes.
