Electronic systems installed in self-built campers by Camper-Tech in Biddinghuizen prove to be life-threatening.
We talk about campers more often on Autoblog. Who wouldn't want to travel through Europe with a laptop on the bus and then work wherever you are? Well, everyone. Unfortunately, not everyone can simply purchase a camper, because it is expensive. Or you want a special camper or a bus that is completely tailored to you.
Well then you have to build it yourself of course! Nice job for those who are a bit handy and also just cool to travel around in something that you simply built yourself. You just buy a nice oldtimer or ex Bo-Rent bus and get started.
Electricity is for professionals
The real dream, of course, is off-grid camping. Self-sufficient with diesel heater and solar panels for the refrigerator and laptop. Add a WiFi dongle and you are the king (he/she/them).
However, building cupboards and a bed is a bit different from making the entire electrical system for your home-built camper. You want batteries, solar panels, inverters and of course an option to simply connect the bus to a socket if you want to take a luxurious shower at a campsite.
So know your own strengths and outsource such an electrical job to a professional! At least that's what the people thought the newspaper that makes you strong spoke. However, they would have been better off choosing another professional, or someone who knows what he is doing.
Electrician
They brought their conversion project to Camper-Tech in Biddinghuizen for their electrical installation. However, for them he turned out not to be a professional but a tinker. The newspaper quotes several customers with considerable misery.
For example, we read about rattling and loose solar panels, cables that are too thin, worn bolts and protective caps falling off. The online reviews are also starting to become quite negative.
Campers are extremely dangerous
“Do not join forces, worthless company” can be read in the reviews. There are also slightly more nuanced reviews. “Agreements are not kept and result in fire-hazard installations”
In the article we also read the story of another victim who speaks of a spaghetti of wires, damaged solar panels for which the full price was paid and roughly sawn into the sheet metal with a grinder. The campers are extremely dangerous.
Certificate
The victims indicate that they have spent between 2,500 and 3,000 euros on the messy work. However, they did receive a certificate of approval for the work. Published by… you guessed it, Camper-Tech itself.
It is therefore better not to have your self-build project supplied with electricity here, according to Camper-tech owner Karsten Oort himself. In a response to the newspaper, he indicated that he is pulling the plug on his company and will first see how he will properly complete the current affairs. Well we keep our fingers crossed for everyone!
Campers in the photos are illustrative and therefore do not concern campers in this story.
