The Cameroonian top scorer made statements that sparked controversy, in which he indicated that Mohamed Salah does not impress him as a player.
“Frankly, Mohamed Salah, I don’t like it very much,” Aboubaker told France Radio International.
“I say it clearly because I’m a straightforward person and I have my own way of seeing things,” he added.
And he added: “If I like it, I will say so. But he does not impress me very much. Salah is a good player who scores a lot of goals but does not produce much on the field.”
He continued: “Of course he does good things in the English Premier League because he has been playing for Liverpool for years, but he is not at the level of some players like Kylian Mbappe for example.”
Vincent Abubakar was chosen as the best player in the group stage of the current African Nations Cup, and he is the top scorer with 6 goals.
The two stars, Salah and Abu Bakr, will meet, Thursday evening, in an expected match between Egypt and Cameroon in the African Nations semi-finals, with the winner facing Senegal in the final match on Sunday evening.
