The US state of California was hit by a new wave of storms on Sunday, with meteorologists predicting heavy rains and strong winds in most parts of the state, threatening floods, mudslides, and power outages.
This is the second storm to hit the state within a week.
The US National Weather Service issued an extremely rare warning of the possibility of hurricane-force winds in the Big Sur area and surrounding areas due to bad weather conditions.
The Meteorological Service added that the southern and central coasts of California are preparing for rain with water levels reaching one inch per hour, with a total of between 7 and 15 centimetres. Rainwater levels are expected to range between 6 and 12 inches in the foothills and low-elevation mountains.
