Nine minutes later, the Americans who were already more in the game tried again with Ramos and Pérez from the left sector, again assisting Peña who finished off first and Acevedo drowned out the cry of the goal by rejecting with his foot. Then on the rebound, Sierra shot again and it went over the horizontal.
Around 44 minutes, América came back on the same side, the ball was left to Deiner Quiñones in the crescent of the area, he shot and went over the goal. While Cali tried to recover the ball a little more, to then advance to the attack.
For the second half, coach Jorge Luis Pinto made the first substitution. Enrique Camargo entered by Kevin Salazar. Later, Alexandre Guimaraes responded with the entry of Elvis Mosquera for Brayan Vera, who had been suffering from discomfort from the initial stage.
After the game resumed, the Verdiblancos approached Graterol’s goal again with a shot by Ángelo, which passed very close to the right vertical of the Venezuelan goalkeeper. Three minutes later, the Scarlets had a cross shot from Sierra, which also went wide.
The commitment was encouraged in both areas, where the local was the most proactive in those initial minutes with opportunities from Oscar Segura, Ángelo and Teo. More substitutions were then made. In the sugar bowls, Jhon Cabal, Agustín Vuletich and Michell Ramos entered for Segura, Ángelo and Yony González and in the red devils, David Lemos, Daniel Mosquera, Daniel Quiñones for Deiner, Peña and Pérez.
About the 74th minute, the reds were left with one less due to the expulsion due to a double yellow card of Juan Camilo Portilla, for hitting Christian Mafla in the gesture of a header. Two minutes later, Acevedo put the ball into the area and John García hit Guillermo Burdisso in the face in the divided game. The central judge, Carlos Ortega was called by Fernando Acuña’s VAR, after the review he whistled for a penalty and gave García a direct red card.
Teo stood in front of the ball, sent it to the left post, Graterol managed to touch it, but it ended up in the back of the net for the partial 1-0. In the final minutes, the Scarlets tried, but without clarity to tie the game.
