Chivas de Guadalajara will seek their revenge in the Liga MX Opening 2022 tournament. Last semester was really irregular for the Sacred Flock, although in the end, under the command of Ricardo Cadena, they managed to rebound and get into the league. In the playoffs, the rojiblancos clearly beat Pumas, however, Atlas, ultimately champion, clearly beat Chiverío and eliminated them in the quarterfinals.
For this season, the challenge for Chivas is clear: return to the top of the Liga MX and seek the final. For this purpose, the rojiblancos added Alan Mozo and Fernando ‘Oso’ González to their ranks. In the same vein, to finish rounding out its squad and compete for the title, the board headed by Ricardo Peláez is still looking to hire Orbelín Pineda.
Chivas de Guadalajara will start its activity in the Apertura 2022 on Saturday, July 2, when it hosts FC Juárez at the Akron Stadium. Although on paper the ‘rojiblancos’ look like wide favourites, the border team, coached by Hernán Cristante, has greatly strengthened and will seek to cause a surprise.
The Opening 2022 will have three double dates. Among the most important games of the semester for Chivas is the Clásico Nacional against América, which is scheduled for matchday 15 and will take place on Saturday, September 17 at the Azteca Stadium. The rojiblancos will face the Foxes again in activity on matchday 8 and the commitment will take place on Saturday, August 13 at the Akron Stadium.
The final phase of the Apertura 2022 will be played as follows: between October 7 and 8 the playoff will be played; the quarterfinal round will be played between October 12 and 16, the semifinals between October 19 and 23, while the final will take place on October 27 and 30.
