This Sunday, on the clay of the Montecarlo Country Club, Colombian doubles players Juan Sebastián Cabal and Robert Farah lost 4-6, 6-3 and 7-10 against the Anglo-Saxon pair of Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury, current number one in the world, and missed what could have been the 20th title in their joint race.
Title number 20 escaped
In a vibrant final in the first clay-court Masters 1000 of the season, the tennis players from Cali showed determination in their game. However, in a match that was difficult from the first ‘game’, Ram and Salisbury prevailed and won.
During the first set, the number 12 in the ranking found it impossible to break the service of the British and the American. Juan Sebastián Cabal seemed a little more nervous than Robert Farah; the inaccuracy in his receptions revealed it. Still, the defining moment was the break they conceded on fourth serve. They couldn’t get it back. 4-6.

In the second round they were close to breaking the rivals’ third serve. However, they seemed rushed. Later, aware of what was at stake, they had revenge on the fourth serve and confirmed the ‘break’. On their fifth serve, the Colombians had a difficult time, as Cabal even committed a double fault. However, they blew away any wind of doubt and took the set. 6-3.
In the ‘super tie-break’ the Colombian duo failed to show their best side. The score was 7-10.
“Thank you Colombia”Robert Farah said goodbye.

With this, Cabal and Farah lost what was their seventh Masters 1000 final. They only won two: Rome in 2018 and 2019.
The doubles players return to competition this week, at the ATP 500 in Barcelona, where they are the reigning champions. In the first round, they will have to face the British Daniel Evans and Jamie Murray.

The 2022 of Cabal and Farah
This year, at the Australian Open, the first grand slam of the year, Cabal and Farah were eliminated in the second round. Then, at the ATP 500 tournaments in Acapulco and Rio de Janeiro, they said goodbye after unusually missing several match points in a super tie-break in the quarterfinals and first round, respectively. In Indian Wells, the first Masters 1000 of the year, they said goodbye in the second phase. In Miami, three weeks ago, they left after losing the first game. Now, in the Monegasque tournament they achieved their best participation, in what was their fortieth final as a pair.
