An entry-level diesel, but with 190 hp. And it's still for sale too!
Every day we receive several messages in the digital mailbox for the Autoblog Advice section. First of all, thank you very much for that! Thanks to your input we can create articles! Unfortunately, we cannot process all requests due to the large number of requests. In addition, some applications are just a little too similar.
We regularly receive requests for fast cars that consume little. Now those two properties are quite at odds with each other. But it is certainly possible. Such is the case with this entry-level diesel with 190 hp. The regular Autoblog reader will have recognized the car, because this is the BMW 116d semi-durability tester.
It is the car that my father bought a few years ago (just after the undersigned had a 325d). The car turned out to be a perfect match for the e-tron, which is somewhat limited in terms of range.
Leather sports interior
In the meantime, he has equipped the car with Apple CarPlay and a completely new interior with leather sports seats including memory! And yes, that is possible, provided you know a few handy people. Furthermore, it has neat 18-inch wheels with almost new tires and a set of 16-inch winter tires.
At some point the car became a bit redundant (after the arrival of a Mercedes CLA250e). Fortunately, I was able to use it a few times when I suddenly decided that it was wise to sell a car and I was without one again. In fact, after selling the 330d from the Autoblog Garage, I enjoyed driving it again.
Entry-level diesel (but with punch!)
As mentioned, it is a standard diesel: 116d. Until 2014 it had the N47B20. This is basically a down-tuned 118d. You can boost both to around 190 hp and 400 Nm. That is exactly what the gentlemen of Beek Auto Racing (BMW Speed) have done. Standard it was 112 hp and 260 Nm, so you notice the difference quite a bit.
From 0-100 km/h takes about 7-7.5 seconds and at full speed you can reach 225-230 km/h. The best part, however, is that you have this performance in combination with low consumption. It is absolutely no trick to drive this 1 in 20. Look, ladies and gentlemen: it is possible.
Bin rinsed
The BMW has only been used for long distances. In that respect, you cannot tell the mileage from the car. Especially because the interior is still completely fresh and the paint (except for a spot of stone chips) is also very nice. What is also beautiful: the history! All maintenance has been done by the BMW dealer except for the last service.
At BMW they do not change the transmission oil (“That is sealed for life, sir”), but according to the specialists it is indeed useful to flush preventively.
Buy this entry-level diesel!
But yes, the car has now really become redundant. This scribe now has other transport and the 116d is stationary again. For a while we had the idea of taking a break for a few years and picking it up again later. But hey, you know how it goes with those kinds of plans.
That's why it's going up for sale. With a sales price of 12,750 euros, it is certainly not the cheapest BMW 116d on Marktplaats, but it is one of the most beautiful. Interested? You can view the ad here!
