The Integrated Transport Center of the Department of Municipalities and Transport in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, under the umbrella of the Joint Traffic Safety Committee and in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Police General Command, announced the ban on the movement of buses of all types and sizes, “light and heavy”, on Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Street from Sheikh Zayed Bridge to Sheikh Zayed Tunnel. “formerly Al Qurum Street” in both directions, 24 hours a day, starting Monday, April 15, 2024, provided that the traffic ban also includes weekends and official holidays.
The center indicated that school buses, public transport buses, and buses authorized to reach work sites in that area were excluded.
The center explained that the decision comes within the framework of efforts aimed at providing smooth traffic flow and reducing accidents, and called on operators and drivers to adhere to traffic regulations, stressing tightening road control, monitoring non-compliant buses, and enforcing violations in cooperation with Abu Dhabi Police through smart systems.
