Francesco Bagnaiatwo-time world champion of the premier class of the Ducati team, participated in the press conference on Thursday of the French Grand Prix in Le Mans, the fifth stage of the 2024 MotoGP world calendar. Below are his statements.
Jerez reaction
“I think one of my strengths is to bounce back even if the day before went badly. I know perfectly well that I can always fight for victory and come back. Last year I struggled every weekend but then we fought for the top positions in the race. In the last 2 races at Le Mans I was unable to finish the race, but I always had high potential and we fought for the top positions.”
Who will be official Ducati in 2024?
“Between Jorge and Marc? I have already answered this question. In recent days I saw a video on Twitter from a Spanish journalist who said that I didn’t want Marc. But he’s bullshit. I don’t care who I have on the team. I want to beat everyone and be the best. I am working well with Enea and I know what we are doing. If the team decides to change, we will start from scratch. My ambition is to be stronger than my partner.
Have the same bike as Marc? I think I have more experience with the Ducati, but thinking about ifs and buts is always wrong. The differences between the GP23 and GP24 are small, some things are better and some things are worse. Marc made just 4 races for Ducati and we know his value, but I think I would have beaten him in Jerez even with the same bike.”
Le Mans expectations
“I love everything about this weekend and it looks like the weather could be fantastic. Having a good fight here is great. In 2022 I came close then I made a mistake, and last year I had the pace. It would be a great race to winin addition to the points.”
Rules for 2027
“I’m curious to try the new 850cc engine. We’re at the pinnacle of motorsport and we’re going to reduce the speed, and that’s a bit strange. We want to see more battle and the only thing to remove is aerodynamics. We will get used to it and the driver’s potential will be the same.”
