Red Bull in the crosshairs
In the last few races the Red Bull didn’t look like that unbeatable battleship of 2023 and even Max Verstappen’s recent victory came more thanks to the talent of the Dutch champion than to the superiority of the Anglo-Austrian team. Among the teams that have come closest to the RB20 there is undoubtedly the McLaren Mercedes, which in the last five races can boast one success and four second places.
Brown attacks
Already in recent months the CEO of McLaren, the American Zak BrownChristian Horner of Red Bull had pressed, first complaining about the dual ownership, then branding the scandal that had hit the rival team principal as unpleasant and damaging to the image of F1, and finally explaining that he had received several CVs from Milton Keynes.
The ‘saga’ has had a sequel in recent days, with the interview given by Zak Brown to the podcast Hot Pursuit Of Bloomberg: “Red Bull is a pretty toxic environment right now. There will be consequences, first of all because Adrian Newey’s departure is important and CVs were already circulating. You notice that there is a certain level of discomfort. And in the future they will also have difficulties with sponsors, because they will carefully evaluate the opportunity to associate with their brand“.
Brown then took things further: “Then there’s the whole situation relating to Verstappen, is he staying or going? He has a contract, but his father was quite clear. Red Bull is a great team but it is destabilized, they are no longer as strong as they used to be. To date, those who have the best momentum at the moment, also in terms of visibility, are Ferrari and McLaren.
