British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said: The British government could “flood the Gaza Strip with more aid” if Palestinian factions accept the US-backed ceasefire agreement, describing the three-stage proposal as “good news.”
The British PA Media agency reported that British Foreign Secretary Lord David Cameron also expressed his support for the plan, which he claimed could bring an end to the conflict that has extended for nearly 8 months.
“I hope that the factions will seize this opportunity to conclude the agreement on the table, which will ensure that detainees can be released and returned to their families, and that we will be able to flood Gaza with more aid than we have previously brought into it,” Sunak said during an election campaign in Redcar.
Sunak continued, “The cessation of fighting – which is the first stage of the agreement – could become a continuous and lasting peace, which is what we all want to see.”
The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement: “The war will not end until all its objectives are achieved, including the recovery of all our detainees and the elimination of the factions’ military capabilities.”
