On the 100th day of the Russian offensive into Ukraine, the British Ministry of Defense said that Moscow had failed to achieve its initial goals of capturing Kyiv and Ukrainian government centers, but was achieving tactical success in the Donbass.
“Based on Russia’s original plan, none of the strategic goals have been achieved,” the ministry added in a regular Twitter briefing, but said Moscow was achieving tactical success in the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine, and controlled more than 90 percent of Luhansk Oblast.
Russia is close to taking full control of Luhansk, one of two Ukrainian regions that together make up the region known as Donbass.
