Flavio Briatore’s pizza is also coming to Naples, the birthplace of the famous dish. The new restaurant of the Crazy Pizza chain, co-founded by the entrepreneur from Cuneo, will open “at the end of the summer season” in via Nazario Sauro, on the Neapolitan seafront.
Briatore himself announced it in an interview with Corriere della Sera. But the prices will most likely be a source of discussion: a Margherita, in fact, will cost 17 euros, the same amount as the Crazy Pizza of Milan and Rome. “Nothing exaggerated,” according to the entrepreneur, who immediately tries to nip the predictable controversy in the bud.
“I’m not saying this to be provocative, but because I’m convinced that the price of 17 euros to enjoy a good pizza in a luxury restaurant, served by qualified staff, with a DJ set and entertainment is absolutely fair,” Briatore emphasizes. The most expensive pizza on the menu, however, is the one topped with Pata Negra Joselito Iberico: 65 euros.
The owner of Crazy Pizza clarifies that arriving in an iconic square like that of Naples does not represent a challenge: “For me – he says – it is a huge pleasure to arrive in Naples, I do not want to challenge anyone. In this adventure we will be accompanied by a series of partners strongly tied to the territory”.
“Naples,” he continues, “is world-famous for its culture and culinary heritage, and we believe our diverse and unique fine dining formula can be a stimulating addition to the local gastronomic landscape.”
In his restaurant, Briatore aims to offer his customers “a quality culinary experience, perfect for those looking for something original and luxurious”. Crazy Pizza, in other words, “does not compete directly with traditional pizzerias or restaurants, as it offers a real experience that stands out for its atmosphere, service, quality of ingredients and entertainment”.
The entrepreneur explains that he will offer a type of pizza that is “very light and digestible, with very little yeast”. “It is very different from Neapolitan pizza”, he reiterates: “That’s why I say that it is not a challenge to see who makes the best pizza. Those who choose us do so also because our pizza is different”.
The goal is to “provide Neapolitans, Campanians and numerous national and international tourists with a new and sophisticated experience, based on high-quality ingredients, luxury service and entertainment”. In short, the restaurant aims “at a higher target of customers, looking for a luxury culinary experience, but fun at the same time”.
Briatore, finally, extends a hand to Gino Sorbillo, after the famous Neapolitan pizza chef had criticized him in recent months for the recipe of the pizza offered in his restaurants: “With Sorbillo – says the owner of Crazy Pizza – there is a cordial relationship that has been going on for years now, we will definitely see each other in Naples, I expect him here”.
